Provincial Activities

Join us for a Provincial Activity.  You’ll make friends from across the province, learn a lot and have fun!

Junior Camp

Junior Camp is held twice each year, open to members 9 – 12 years of age and chaperoned by senior members, leaders and volunteers.  Winter camp runs from Friday to Sunday with campers sleeping indoors and heading outdoors for fun in the snow.  Summer camp is four days long with three nights spent sleeping in tents.  Junior Camp provides a chance for members to begin to develop friendships they will continue to cultivate as they age into the provincial activities held for older members.  Junior Camp is also a perfect opportunity for the younger members to interact with their senior chaperones and see where their involvement in 4-H can take them in terms of leadership development.  Campers enjoy games, crafts and outdoor activities based around camp themes such as animals, bugs, outerspace, First Nations, detectives and more.

Intermediate Leadership Conference/Camp

Intermediate Leadership Conference/Camp is open to members aged 13 – 15 years of age.  Members come together from across the province to develop their leadership abilities through workshops and activities that teach skills in such areas as communication, marketing and public relations, understanding how to run meetings, roles of the executive and parliamentary procedures.  Weekend sessions vary between learning from the presentations, active team building games and planning sessions.  The Leadership Conference helps to prepare youth to take active roles conducting the business of Quebec 4-H in their own clubs and at the provincial level.

Senior Member Weekend

Senior Member Weekend is open to members aged 16 – 25 years.  Participants benefit from a guided visit of down town Montreal and learn how to get around the underground city.  Members enjoy visits to historical and cultural attractions and take part in workshops to develop employable skills as well as to examine career choices.  The objectives of the conference are to prepare youth for the future, by developing skills in communication, leadership, entrepreneurship, cooperation and decision-making.

Innovative Ag Tour

Innovative Ag Tour is hosted by a different Quebec 4-H club in March each year and open to members aged 13 – 25 years.  Younger members from the host club may also attend.  Members travel together by bus to visit various farms and businesses in the region of the host club so that they may learn innovative agricultural practices, feeding techniques, business practices, architectural possibilities and more.  Travel time between enterprises provides the youth with the opportunity to form long lasting social connections with others from across the province.  A Saturday evening banquet includes activities such as curling, bowling or square dancing and parents of the host club members join in the celebration. Youth members of the host club practice their leadership, organizational and communication skills by contacting farms to coordinate the schedule of visits as well as arranging meal and entertainment plans for the banquet.

Provincial Rally

Quebec 4-H’s largest event, is hosted by a different club each summer. Rally is open to members aged 12 – 25 years.  Younger members of the host club may also participate.  4-H members and leaders come together in the spirit of friendly competition to share and learn with others from throughout the province.  Events held include dairy, beef, horse, goat, sheep, rabbit and poultry conformation and showmanship classes, judging competition, fitting competition, life skills competition, public speaking, barn decorating and Farmers’ Olympics.  Winners are awarded on Saturday evening at the banquet closing the event.  Youth in the host club practice their leadership and organizational skills by pulling this major event together with help from the provincial office.
